Cavemen

Cavemen Information
This coming fall, lots of changes are lined up for the evening schedule in ABC. Many shows have been acquired by the said television network to populate their fall lineup, and of these is Cavemen. ABC describes the Cavemen as a "unique buddy comedy that offers a clever twist on stereotypes and turns race relations on its head". The Cavemen is also unique because of the fact that its writer, Joe Lawson, based it on the popular Cavemen advertisements he wrote for GEICO, an American vehicle insurance company. The ads claim that GEICO's service is so easy, "Even a caveman can do it". Cavemen is currently scheduled to air every Tuesday nights at 8:00/7:00c on ABC beginning October 2, 2007.

The story of Cavemen revolves around Joel, his best friend Nick, and younger brother Andy. Joel is also set to be engaged to Kate even though he has problems with Kate's conservative family accepting him. Like a typical American, Joel is happy pursuing his American Dream. Cavemen is set in Atlanta, Georgia. In the pilot episode, Joel, Andy and Nick are invited to Kate's parents' private BBQ party. There, Joel tries to get Kate's father's blessing for his upcoming marriage to Kate. According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the pilot episode was "not terribly funny." But as they say, let the viewers decide come showtime.

The cast of Cavemen are the following: Bill English stars as Joel, Sam Huntington plays Joel's younger brother Andy, Nick Kroll as Joel's best friend Nick, and Kaitlin Doubleday plays Kate, Joel's fiancee. Other characters of Cavemen are Trip (John Heard), Thorne (a party girl played by Stephanie Lemelin) and Julia White as Kate's mother. The original actors who played the cavemen in the advertisements, Jeff Daniel Phillips and Ben Weber, were rumored to be part of the series to play the titular roles. But the rumors were just that when the Cavemen's titular cast was announced. However, it has been made known recently that Jeff Daniel Phillips has been cast, his role in Cavemen as yet unannounced.

Since ABC's announcement about Cavemen as being in its fall lineup, it has been given "free publicity" by late night shows; most notably by Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Cavemen was not directly ridiculed but rather, jokes were made at the expense of the shows that will compete with it. An example would be Jay Leno's skit that "the show isn't original, they already have a show on CBS about cavemen. Isn't it called 60 Minutes?" Cavemen is being produced by ABC Studios and Management 360, and has been given an initial order of 13 episodes by ABC. It will be coming to your TV screens to lighten up your nights beginning October 2, 2007 every Tuesday nights at 8:00/7:00c on ABC.
